    Important information relating to COVID-19

    In light of the ongoing situation relating to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have made some temporary changes to our delivery services, to safeguard both our employees and our customers.

    The key details are as follows;

    • All of our deliveries will now be delivered to your building doorstep and not to a room of choice.
    • Additional services such as assembly, removal of packaging, disposal of an old product are currently unavailable
    • 'Contactless Deliveries' will be practiced where possible/necessary. A photograph of the delivered goods will be taken as Proof of Delivery rather than requesting a signature.
      If you are self-isolating please advise us accordingly and we will make visual confirmation with you through the door/window.

    We are of course monitoring official guidance on travel and working practices to protect the well being of our staff and maintain customer service.

    All orders will be processed and dispatched for delivery in line with the timescales below.

    Alternatively, we can dispatch your bed frame at a later date should that be more convenient. You can specify this when viewing your Shopping Basket under Delivery Preference.

    Due to the current climate, and increased demand, all orders will be processed and dispatched within approximately 4 working days.

    Your furniture will be delivered within 7-14 Working Days (UK Mainland) of your order being placed. This excludes Pre Ordered items (which are clearly marked as such on the applicable product page and in the Shopping Basket), which would be dispatched once the item arrives in stock.

    Delivery lead time depends on courier demand, scheduling and collections from us at the time you place your order, plus any additional services opted for such as assembly.

    Please note that delivery to certain rural and offshore areas may take marginally longer than the time-scales above. 

    We will do our absolute best to meet our stated delivery times but they cannot be guaranteed - this is subject to courier availability and demand.

    A tracking number will be provided by email when we confirm dispatch of your order. After that, our courier will contact you directly with 24-72 hours notice of their first available delivery date with a proposed delivery date.
    You will then receive a 3 or 4 hour delivery timeslot on the day before delivery is due to take place.

    Should you be unable to agree a suitable date with the courier, or have any delivery queries please do contact us.

      We are pleased to now offer an express Palletised delivery option for our customers. This delivery service offers a fast delivery option across the whole of the UK via the Palletforce distribution network.
      For Two Working Day Pallet Delivery please order before 10am.

      If you require pallet delivery on a Specified Day please contact us after ordering.
      Pallet deliveries are to the outside of your property, and in most cases the delivery driver is NOT able to remove the wrapping/packaging or the pallet itself, but we can always ask that they do so.

      General Information and Delivery Tips
          • For every order placed with TheOakBedStore you will receive a confirmation email detailing your order. It is recommended that you ensure all details are correct. This enables us to ensure the delivery process runs smoothly.
          • If for any reason you notice any of the details are incorrect please contact a member of our team - reply to your confirmation email, or visit our Contact Us page.
          • Please remember that it is your responsibility to check the measurements of your new furniture on our website - it is important to ensure that there is sufficient access via your front door (and stairway if Room of Choice delivery is required).
          • Your delivery will ordinarily take place between 7am – 6pm.
          • Should you not be available at the time of attempted delivery you will be left a card with details to contact your local depot and arrange re-delivery or collection directly.
          • All customers will be contacted by the courier on 3 separate occasions; if they can still not make contact after the third attempt the courier will await a response from the customer. If after 21 days the customer has not been in touch, arrangements will be made for the goods to be returned to us; in this instance an aborted delivery fee may be applicable.

        Failed Deliveries & Re-Delivery

        Failed deliveries will incur a re-delivery fee.

        Please make sure you are available to receive delivery on the agreed date and time. If you find that you are unable to receive delivery, please contact us at least 24 hours before your delivery is due to take place. We reserve the right to charge a minimum of £30 towards to the cost of a failed delivery.


        We take every precaution to ensure you receive your order in pristine condition. All products are opened and inspected in our warehouse prior to dispatch.

        In the unlikely event that you should find any item or component to be damaged on delivery, please accept the delivery and note the details when signing for the goods.

        You will need to inform us at your earliest convenience which will allow us to make arrangements to replace the damaged item as soon as possible.

        Why choose Solid Oak?

        Oak is characterised by its strength, flexibility and durability. With a naturally warm character and reassuringly traditional look that still feels contemporary, oak is a timeless wood that doesn't go out of style. Colour tones range from grey-yellows to light and dark browns, and lend a light, natural ambiance to an interior design scheme.

        Why (and where) do you use Oak Veneers?

        Being a natural hardwood, Oak can vary in tone greatly from one piece to the next. It is also very wasteful and inefficient to use single sections of Oak in the production of longer spans such as a side rail or large leg posts.

        A high quality real Oak veneer (not an artificial, plastic or PU imitation oak) is used on these sections over the finger-jointed solid oak foundation to ensure an even tonal match across the whole frame.

        We now offer some hardwood ottoman beds finished in Medium Oak that do use a PU veneer, every product we sell has this information clearly stated on within the product description and specifications.

        What exactly is Oak Veneer?

        Our Oak Veneers are made from only the most valuable highest grades of real Oak, with millimetre thin slices being cut from oak with the most beautiful grain. Veneers have an elegant, modernist look that is lighter and more flexible than solid wood. Since veneer takes its pattern from the wood it is cut from, you get a natural, warm and unique look.

        How are your prices so low?

        As we are the designers and manufacturers of our solid oak and hardwood beds, there are no third party/wholesale costs being passed on to our customers. This enables us to offer such competitive prices.

        Our efficient use of Oak (please see above) helps to keep our prices as competitive as possible.

        What type of slats are provided with each bed?

        All of our beds are supplied complete with independent Posture Sprung Wooden Slats which offer the best support for you and your mattress. These are simply seated into a wooden support bar via plastic slat caps, please see below for more details.

        Each slat is 50mm in width and approximately 10mm thick, and the gap between each slat is 50mm, which is ideal for all mattress types.
        While they are very flexible, by design, it is reassuring to know that 2-3 slats will support the entire weight of one adult.

        Please note that our Ottoman bed frames have a metal support frame, with 53mm slats, and the gap between the slats is 71mm - which is suitable for the vast majority of mattresses.

        What are Posture Sprung Wooden Slats?

        Posture Sprung Wooden Slats have an advantage over traditional solid slat and mesh bases as they provide a more comfortable, mattress friendly sleeping area due to their upward-curve design.
        When an individual lies on the bed, the slats act like a spring and flatten, returning to normal when the individual gets back off the bed.

        In our 4ft size beds and above, there are 2 rows of Slats to allow independent support of each person using the bed.

        Our Sprung Slats are manufactured from plywood, with a beech veneer for a high quality finish.

        Posture Sprung Slats create a more comfortable sleeping surface for you, and help extend the lifetime of your mattress by alleviating part of the pressure undertaken by the springs, adjusting to your profile where the most pressure is exerted.

        How do I track my delivery?

        We will send you an email with the tracking details - you can also login to your account to view this information.

        Our couriers will also be in touch to arrange delivery with you directly, before any delivery attempt is made.

        Can I return goods if I am not satisfied?

        We are confident that you will be delighted with your furniture. In the unlikely event that you should wish to return an item to us, we are pleased to offer a 14 day money back guarantee, commencing the day after delivery.

        We understand that it can be a little daunting when buying furniture online and in order to protect you as our customer and to give you a little more peace of mind with your purchase, we offer a 5 manufacturer's guarantee.

        The Oak Bed Store guarantees to repair or replace any part of a bed  deemed to be defective due to faulty materials or workmanship free of charge for a period of 5 years starting from the date of delivery.

        • When your delivery arrives make sure you check everything carefully. Please let our customer service team know about any damage as soon as possible on 02393 552 550.
        • We’ll need photos of the fault.
        • Sometimes we might arrange to send a furniture technician to have a look. The decision of this inspector will be final.
        • If repair or replacement isn’t possible we’ll offer you the chance to pick an equivalent product. If this is more expensive you’ll need to make up the difference. If it’s cheaper we’ll give you a refund.
        • The guarantee is non-transferable and only applies to the original buyer and UK mainland. Your statutory rights aren’t affected by these terms and conditions.

        The Guarantee does not apply:

        • If the Goods have been used for any purpose other than that in which they were intended
        • To cosmetic deterioration resulting from reasonable wear and tear (including the natural ageing of constituent materials).Accidental damage after our delivery team have left.
        • Soiled products (it’s worth using a mattress protector).
        • Items bought when reduced for our clearance sale or B Grade items are covered by our 12 month guarantee.
