15 Year Workmanship Guarantee Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions apply to The Oak Bed Store's 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee and should be read alongside the information provided on our 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee page.

This guarantee is provided in addition to your statutory rights and does not affect any rights or remedies available to you under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable UK consumer protection legislation.

1. Eligibility and Effective Date

1.1 The 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee applies to eligible solid wood bed frames and furniture items manufactured by Oakworth Furniture Limited and made from Solid Oak, Solid Walnut, Solid Rubberwood or American Yellow Poplar.

1.2 The 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee is effective from the 1st September 2026 and applies to all eligible bed frames and furniture items purchased on or after this date.

1.3 As a gesture of goodwill, we will also honour the 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee for all eligible bed frames and furniture items purchased on or after 1st January 2026, subject to these Terms & Conditions.

1.4 For eligible bed frames and furniture items purchased between 1st January 2026 and 1st September 2026, the 15-year guarantee period will run from the original date of delivery and not from the date the 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee was introduced.

1.5 Eligible bed frames and furniture items purchased before 1st January 2026 remain subject to the guarantee terms that applied at the time of purchase.

1.6 The guarantee begins on the date the eligible bed frame or furniture item is delivered and continues for a period of 15 years.

1.7 No registration is required.

1.8 The guarantee applies to the original purchaser only and is not transferable if the bed frame or furniture item is subsequently sold or otherwise transferred to another owner.

1.9 Moving home does not invalidate the guarantee, provided the original purchaser remains the owner of the bed frame or furniture item. Damage caused during dismantling, moving, transportation or reassembly is not covered.

1.10 The guarantee applies to normal domestic residential use only. Commercial use, rental properties and holiday-let use are excluded.

1.11 Bed frames and furniture items purchased second-hand are not covered.

1.12 A small selection of fabric bed frames and other products sold by The Oak Bed Store are manufactured by third-party suppliers and are not covered by this guarantee. These products are subject to the relevant manufacturer's standard guarantee, as stated on the individual product page.

1.13 Mattresses are not covered by this guarantee and are subject to their own separate guarantee terms.

2. What the Guarantee Covers

2.1 The 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee covers genuine manufacturing defects affecting the workmanship or structural integrity of an eligible bed frame or furniture item.

This includes manufacturing defects affecting:

a) bed frame and furniture joints;

b) side rails;

c) headboard and footboard construction;

d) centre support rails and support legs;

e) wooden support slats supplied with the bed;

f) structural frames and panels;

g) structural fixings and fittings;

h) hinges;

i) handles; and

j) other structural components essential to the safe and intended use of the bed frame or furniture item.

2.2 Whether an issue constitutes a genuine manufacturing defect will be assessed individually, having regard to the nature of the fault, the age and condition of the product, the information and photographs supplied, and the exclusions contained within these Terms & Conditions.

2.3 Where a claim is accepted, we will determine whether a repair or replacement is the most appropriate remedy based on the nature and circumstances of the fault.

3. Years 1 to 5

3.1 During the first 5 years from the date of delivery, where a claim is accepted under this guarantee, any approved repair or replacement component required to remedy the manufacturing defect will be provided free of charge.

3.2 Any applicable delivery costs associated with an approved repair or replacement component will also be provided free of charge during this period.

4. Years 6 to 15

4.1 From the beginning of year 6 until the expiry of the guarantee at the end of year 15, approved repairs and replacement components required as part of an accepted guarantee claim will continue to be provided free of charge.

4.2 The customer will be responsible for any applicable delivery cost associated with providing a replacement component.

4.3 Delivery charges are typically £25–£40, although the actual charge may vary depending on the size and nature of the replacement component and the delivery location.

4.4 Any applicable delivery charge will be confirmed before the replacement component is dispatched.

4.5 Replacement parts and repair services provided under this guarantee are available to addresses in England, Scotland and Wales only.

5. Repairs and Replacement Components

5.1 Each accepted guarantee claim will be assessed individually to determine the most appropriate remedy.

5.2 Where a repair is appropriate and reasonably possible, we will arrange for the affected component to be repaired.

5.3 Where a replacement is required, we will, where reasonably possible, supply the same replacement component as originally supplied with the bed frame or furniture item.

5.4 If the original component is no longer available because the bed frame, furniture item or component has been discontinued, we will, where reasonably possible, offer a suitable like-for-like replacement of equivalent quality and value.

5.5 Solid wood is a natural material and its colour and appearance can change over time. We cannot guarantee that a repaired or replacement component will be an exact match in colour, grain, tone or appearance to the existing bed frame or furniture item.

5.6 Where alternative materials, finishes or components are required because the original is no longer available, reasonable variations in appearance may occur.

6. Discontinued Products and Pro-Rata Refunds

6.1 Where reasonably possible, we will first determine whether the affected component can be repaired.

6.2 If a repair is not appropriate or reasonably possible, we will seek to provide the required replacement component.

6.3 If the original component is unavailable, we will seek to provide a suitable like-for-like replacement of equivalent quality and value where reasonably possible.

6.4 As a last resort, where neither a suitable repair nor replacement can reasonably be provided, we may offer a pro-rata refund.

6.5 A pro-rata refund will be calculated according to the proportion of the original 15-year guarantee period remaining at the date the accepted claim is made.

The calculation will be:

Original purchase price attributable to the eligible bed frame or furniture item × remaining guarantee period ÷ 15 years.

For example, where the eligible bed frame or furniture item originally cost £900 and 5 years of the original 15-year guarantee remain, the pro-rata amount would be:

£900 × 5 ÷ 15 = £300.

6.6 Where an order included other products, services, delivery charges, assembly charges, discounts or promotional offers, only the amount reasonably attributable to the eligible bed frame or furniture item will be used when calculating the pro-rata amount.

6.7 A pro-rata refund is a last-resort remedy under this guarantee and will only be considered where neither a suitable repair nor replacement can reasonably be provided.

7. Wooden Support Slats

7.1 Wooden support slats supplied with an eligible bed frame are covered against genuine manufacturing defects.

7.2 The guarantee does not cover damage to wooden slats resulting from normal wear and tear, accidental damage, standing or jumping on the bed, impact, excessive or concentrated loads, incorrect assembly, misuse, neglect or modification.

7.3 Where slat damage is not covered by the guarantee, we will nevertheless do our best to assist by arranging replacement slats where available. Depending on the circumstances, a charge may apply for the replacement slats and delivery.

7.4 We may request additional photographs or information where necessary to determine whether slat damage has resulted from a manufacturing defect or from accidental damage, misuse or another excluded cause.

8. What Is Not Covered

The 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear.

  • Natural variations in the colour, grain or character of solid wood.

  • Natural expansion, contraction or movement of solid wood over time.

  • Minor cracks, splits or natural movement in the timber that do not affect the structural integrity, stability or safe use of the bed frame or furniture item.

  • Cosmetic damage, including scratches, dents, chips, scuffs or marks.

  • Accidental damage.

  • Damage caused by incorrect assembly, misuse or neglect.

  • Damage caused while moving, dismantling, transporting or reassembling the bed frame or furniture item.

  • Damage caused by water, excessive moisture, inappropriate cleaning products or other contaminants.

  • Damage caused by exposure to excessive heat or other adverse environmental conditions.

  • Damage to wooden slats caused by standing or jumping on the bed, impact, excessive or concentrated loads, or other misuse.

  • Products that have been modified, altered or repaired without our authorisation.

  • Commercial, rental or holiday let use.

  • Bed frames or furniture items purchased second-hand.

  • B Grade & Clearance products

9. Natural Characteristics of Solid Wood

9.1 Solid wood is a natural material. Variations in grain, colour, knots and other natural characteristics are part of the individual appearance of the timber and are not manufacturing defects.

9.2 Timber naturally responds to changes in temperature and humidity. Minor expansion, contraction, movement, small cracks or splits may occur as the timber responds to its environment. Bed frames may also occasionally develop minor creaks as the timber naturally moves.

9.3 These characteristics are not covered where they are cosmetic in nature and do not affect the structural integrity, stability or safe use of the bed frame or furniture item.

9.4 Where a crack, split or other movement affects the structural integrity, stability or safe use of the bed frame or furniture item, we will assess whether it constitutes a genuine manufacturing defect covered by the guarantee.

10. Making a Claim

10.1 To make a claim under the 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee, please contact The Oak Bed Store Customer Care team.

You will normally be asked to provide:

a) your order number or other proof of purchase;

b) a brief description of the issue; and

c) clear photographs showing the alleged fault.

10.2 We may request additional photographs, measurements, information or other reasonable evidence where necessary to assess the claim.

10.3 Customers should not dispose of an affected component until the claim has been assessed and we have confirmed that it may be discarded.

10.4 Claims will be assessed individually against the Terms & Conditions of the 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee applicable to the eligible bed frame or furniture item.

10.5 Where a claim is accepted, we will determine the most appropriate solution based on the individual circumstances, which may involve repairing the affected component or providing a replacement in accordance with these Terms & Conditions.

11. Repair and Replacement Guarantee Period

11.1 A repair, replacement component or replacement bed frame or furniture item provided under this guarantee does not restart the original 15-year guarantee period.

11.2 Any repaired or replacement component, or replacement bed frame or furniture item, provided under the guarantee will remain covered only for the remainder of the original 15-year guarantee period.

For example, if a repair or replacement component is provided 8 years after the original product was delivered, it will remain covered for the remaining 7 years of the original guarantee period.

12. Availability of Replacement Components

12.1 We cannot guarantee that an identical component, timber batch, colour, finish or design will remain available throughout the entire 15-year guarantee period.

12.2 Where an identical component is unavailable, the provisions in Sections 5 and 6 relating to repairs, suitable alternatives and pro-rata refunds will apply.

13. Statutory Rights

13.1 The 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee is an additional commercial guarantee provided in connection with eligible bed frames and furniture items sold by The Oak Bed Store.

13.2 Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or otherwise affects your statutory rights or any remedies available to you under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable UK consumer protection legislation.

13.3 Where your statutory rights provide a remedy independently of this guarantee, these Terms & Conditions do not prevent you from exercising those rights.

14. Changes to These Terms & Conditions

14.1 We may update the Terms & Conditions of the 15 Year Workmanship Guarantee from time to time for future purchases.

14.2 Any subsequent changes will not reduce the guarantee protection applicable to an eligible bed frame or furniture item at the time it was purchased.
